December Meeting Canceled

Our December Sr. Beta Club Meeting is canceled. Our next meeting will be in January when we will have our induction ceremony. New members will need to watch their emails for additional information.

Operation Christmas Child

Thank you Beta Club Members for another job well done for Operation Christmas Child. The 19 gift packages you prepared yesterday will bless those children who receive them.

Severe Allergy Awareness

I forgot to announce this at the beginning of the year. Please be aware that we have a member who is highly allergic to peanuts.

Please take this situation into consideration when bringing food into the school during our meetings, whether for yourself or service projects.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

November Operation Christmas Child

As our November Service Project has been explained in our meetings, Operation Christmas Child sends a Shoe Box full of gifts to children all over the world.

I will provide the wrapping paper, tape, labels, and zip locks to bag the highly fragrant items.

What you need to bring:

-Shoe boxes (standard size) as long as the top and bottom can be separated after being wrapped....you can bring more than one box if you like. If you would like to purchase a plastic shoe box, the Amen Corner in Pelham has them available.

-$7 to cover shipping costs

-Items to fill the boxes (here are some suggestions from Operation Christmas Child):
-School Supplies...pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

-Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, toys that light up or make noise.

-Hygiene Items: toothbrush, toothpaste, "mild" bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

-Other: hard candy and lollipops (double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

-A Personal Note: In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of your self.


Remember.....Operation Christmas Child recommends bagging or double bagging the soaps and candies. In the past I have noticed that the soaps, mints, and bubble gums have a "very strong effect" on other items in the box.

DO NOT INCLUDE: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures, chocolate or food, out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snowglobes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

From here on out, all general club information will be posted here on this blog rather than sent out via mass emails. Email will still be used for individual contact.

November Meeting

The Sr. Beta Club Meeting for November is scheduled for Thursday, November, 6, 2008 at 1:15 p.m. at the HCS School.

We will be doing a Service Project for Samaritan's Purse called Operation Christmas Child. I will post the details of what you need to bring in a follow up post.

October Service Project

Hi Beta Club Members,

Our October Service Project was a success. Recently, I shipped off 32 packages to our troops through the Give2theTroops project. Actually, there was 33 as one package was for a canine troop. Of the others, 8 packages were for women troops. Thank you to our members who thought of those women and the dogs who serve our military.
